Alpharetta is a great city. Very walkable, great shopping and restaurants. The homes are beautiful and you can choose from neighborhoods or country living on acreage, but still be close to town.

6. Honorable Mention: Canton

I couldn’t leave Canton off the list. It’s the first city we moved to. It wasn’t our first choice. We were looking and writing offers in Alpharetta and Cumming. We actually had one offer accepted in Alpharetta, but when I flew out for inspections, the home just didn’t look as good in person. So I cancelled that contract and continued looking for homes that weekend since I was not flying back home until Monday. 
I ended looking at a home in Canton in a community called Lake Sovereign. We ended up buying that home and we really felt lucky to have ended up in Canton. 

What makes Canton great is the location. It’s located along 575 and that’s where the Express Lane begins and ends. So if you need to go towards Atlanta, you can use that toll lane (for a fee), but it’s so much faster and safer. Canton has a nice little downtown and during Christmas, you’ll feel like you’re in a Hallmark movie. They host a numerous amount of outdoor music events.

If you’re considering North Georgia, definitely give Canton a look.
